We’ve always adopted a circular economy approach that aims to optimise the management of resources and production processes.

Less impact, more circularity

The circular economy is a business model that aims to optimise the use of resources, minimising waste and environmental impact. For RadiciGroup, this concept takes the practical form of an integrated design, production and re-use process in which many materials are conceived right from the beginning to be recycled and valorised at the end of their life cycle. In addition, post-industrial waste materials are recovered directly during production and so go back to being raw material again.

The circular economy requires the collaboration of the entire supply chain, involving all the players in the value chain, and this is why we’re always willing to work together with a view to sustainability and circularity.

The principles of RadiciGroup circularity

An effective circular approach can optimise the use of resources and minimise waste. RadiciGroup adopts various principles and strategies, such as eco-design and the enhancement of recycled materials.

Eco-design

We work with our customers and suppliers to develop products that fully embrace the principles of the circular economy, taking advantage of the concept of monomateriality. Monomateriality, or the use of chemically compatible materials, is fundamental because it facilitates the recycling of products at the end of their lifespan, making the separation and treatment of the materials that much easier.

Materials

We produce recyclable, durable, recycled materials from organic sources, and often made in plants powered by renewable energy.
Our commitment extends to the implementation of advanced technologies that minimise the environmental impact during production.

Processes

We optimise our production processes through the efficient use of raw materials and sustainable management of resources. Each step of the process is monitored by means of measurements that help verify the effectiveness of our choices, always in compliance with the environmental parameters.

Durability and longevity

We design materials that guarantee long-lasting performance and are suitable even in the most demanding conditions. In particular, the use of nylon allows us to create solutions that maintain their characteristics over time, ensuring high quality for our customers.

Recyclability

Thanks to mechanical recycling processes with limited energy and environmental impact, we’re able to transform pre- and post-consumer materials into new raw materials suitable for sectors that require high performance, such as automotive or technical textiles.

Quality of the recycling

We pay attention not only to the recycling itself, but also to the quality of that process. We carefully select waste materials to maximise their intrinsic characteristics, and we allocate them to the most appropriate second life according to their technical performance and the needs of the market.

Through Geoenergie, a Group company, we foster the conscious use of renewable energy resources, promoting efficiency and accompanying companies on their transition to sustainability.

Our core circular process

The recycling of nylon

Thanks to RadiciGroup’s know-how, nylon waste is transformed into new resources. This model embraces both pre-consumer and post-consumer recycling.

The life cycle of nylon begins with polymerisation, and the creation of this material that will subsequently be transformed into an engineering polymer or fibre. Even though the polymerisation, compounding and spinning processes are optimised, it’s inevitable that they will produce waste that can be turned back into raw material. Post-consumer materials that have reached the end of their life, if carefully selected can also undergo a similar mechanical recycling process.

RadiciGroup is able to convey the waste in the same industry or in a different one, choosing the most appropriate solution according to the specific characteristics of the materials and the expected performance of the final applications.
