During Feiplastic 2013, specialties are taking centre stage at the RadiciGroup Plastics stand. What’s more, in 2013 Radici Plastics is celebrating the 15th anniversary of the start-up of Radici Plastics Ltda‘s production activities in Brazil. At the event, Radici Plastics Ltda is featuring three key families of high-performance products: flame retardant PA6, PA6.6 and PBT materials (Radiflam® S, Radiflam® A and Radiflam® B respectively); special Radilon® S URV and Radilon® A RV500RW polymers for metal and material thermoset replacement; and high heat-resistant Radilon® A HHR engineering plastics.

“In Brazil today, our target markets are demanding more customization,” said Danilo Micheletti, RadiciGroup Plastics COO for North America, South America and China. “In addition, higher levels of quality, technology, performance and safety are required. Our efforts have always been aimed in this direction, and our ‘track and anticipate’ market approach continues to bear results. Among the products we are showcasing at Feiplastic are our Radiflam® flame-retardant engineering plastics. After three years of research and development, the Radiflam® line has obtained the required certification and has been selected for use in the manufacture of seats for some of the major stadiums in the country. Radici Plastics Ltda is the first company in Brazil to certify its engineering plastics for this specific application.”
“We plan to continue strengthening this approach,” Mr. Micheletti concluded, “not only by building on our expertise and experience garnered in Europe and the United States, but also by creating a R&D function in South America to offer more advanced technical development support for our local customers and to be closer on hand to better understand the future requirements and needs of the local market.”

The specialty polymers of the Radilon® range are also in the spotlight at Feiplastic 2013. “During this major trade fair we are focusing on some recently developed nylon specialties,” said Erico Spini, Marketing&Application Development Director of RadiciGroup Plastics, “not to mention new applications for sectors, such as automotive, that have stepped up their research efforts directed at progressively replacing certain metal components with plastic ones and for those industrial markets with increasing demand for greater performance and mechanical resistance. We have been hard at work on new applications and on the development of new engineering plastics specifically targeted at the automotive sector, where they are being used to manufacture auto parts for major car manufacturers such as FIAT and GM. In the latter case, we are talking about our Radilon® HHR PA6.6 products that were developed for applications such as engine ‘beauty’ covers, turbo ducts and electric engines components, to cite just a few. All these applications require materials with exceptional heat resistance to ageing in air at temperatures up to 210°C.”

“Additionally, we have achieved exciting results with the products in the Radilon® A RV500RW line,” Mr. Spini continued. ”We have developed applications for the automotive and consumer goods sectors: engine mounts, reaction brackets, pump housing and coffee machine components. Moreover, our Radilon® D PA6.10 products provide sustainable solutions for many critical applications in both the automotive and the industrial fields.”
