Atlanta: composites take centre stage at JEC AMERICAS 2014

Today is the opening day of JEC AMERICAS, Spring Edition, a three-day international trade show in Atlanta, USA, dedicated to the composites industry. This event is of great interest to RadiciGroup, which is actively engaged in the research and development of high-performance technical fibre and precursor fibre (PAN) for carbon fibre.

RadiciGroup, a leading producer of nylon synthetic fibre in Europe and South America, is carrying on R&D work on the production of polymer precursor fibre (PAN – polyacrylonitrile) for carbon fibre at its Radici Fibras Ltda production site in Brazil. The Brazilian plant, located in São José dos Campos, was acquired by RadiciGroup in 1998. The facility is now focusing on the production of nylon 6 synthetic fibres, while continuing its experimental development work on the production of special technical fibres, such as cement fibre and PAN carbon-fibre precursor.

Experience and know-how in the production of synthetic fibres – from upstream polymerization down to spinning – have allowed the Group, over the years, to carry on fruitful research on the development of high-performance technical fibres, particularly carbon-fibre precursor.

WHO VISITS JEC AMERICAS? Over 4,000 professionals attended the 2013 JEC Americas international show. Visitors came from 53 foreign countries and 36 US states broken down as follows: 85% Americas, 10% Europe and 5% Asia-Pacific. The 2013 show featured 341 exhibitors from the worldwide composites industry: 65% USA/Canada, 21% Europe and 14% Asia.
